Composing a scene in glass

A single sculptural element is a technical problem. Three elements arranged into a scene is a compositional one on top of it. Each has to be built, positioned and fused in an order that does not disturb the others, and once an element is set there is no repositioning it — every placement is final at the moment it is made.

The artist is effectively working out the whole composition before the first element goes on, because there is no revising later.
