What "worked" actually means

Worked glass is not glass with color applied to the outside. Colored rod is fused into the body and then twisted, stretched and manipulated so the pattern runs through the material itself — linework, wig-wag, section work, depending on technique.

The consequence is that the pattern cannot wear, scratch off or fade, because it is not on the surface. It also means the artist commits to the pattern early: once the color is in and stretched, the design is fixed.

Plus UV

UV-reactive rod fluoresces under blacklight and reads as ordinary color in daylight, so the worked pattern effectively has two states.
