Quartz Bangers Explained: Sizes, Types & How to Choose

The banger is the single biggest factor in how your dabs taste. Get the fit and style right and everything improves. Here's how to choose.

Joint Size & Gender

Bangers come in three common joint sizes — 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm — and in male or female fittings. Your banger must be the opposite gender of your rig's joint and match its size. If your rig has a 14mm male joint, you need a 14mm female banger.

Joint Angle

Bangers come in 45° and 90° angles to match the angle of your rig's joint. Most rigs use 45°.

Banger Styles

  • Flat top — the everyday standard; works with most carb caps.
  • Thermal / double-wall — retains heat longer for consistent low-temp dabs.
  • Terp slurper — designed for constant airflow and big flavor with pearls and pillars.

Quality & Thickness

Thicker quartz holds heat more evenly and resists cracking. Premium quartz also stays cleaner and preserves flavor better than cheap glass.

Seasoning a New Banger

Before first use, heat your banger, let it cool, and repeat a few times. This "seasons" the quartz for cleaner flavor.

Don't Forget the Carb Cap

A carb cap is what makes low-temp dabbing work — it directs airflow and holds heat. Pair any banger with one for the best results, and see our full dab rigs setup guide.
