Buying hemp online is convenient, often cheaper, and lets you research what you're actually getting. But the market is unregulated — anyone with a Shopify can sell anything. Here's the 10-point checklist for spotting legit operators.
1. They publish a COA for every batch
Non-negotiable. Look for a "View Lab Results" or "COA" link on every hemp product page. Brands that hand-wave on lab results are skipping testing or hiding bad results. Learn to read a COA.
2. The lab is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited
Check the COA — the lab name and accreditation number should be at the top. No accreditation = unreliable result.
3. Delta-9 THC is less than 0.3% by dry weight
This is the federal compliance line per the 2018 Farm Bill. Anything over isn't federally legal hemp.
4. They list a physical address
Real businesses have addresses. Fly-by-night drop-shippers don't. Our address: 2747 SW 27th Ave, Miami, FL 33133.
5. They have age verification at site entry AND checkout
Single-step age gates are easy to fake. Real compliance requires verification at site entry, ID check at checkout, and adult signature at delivery. See our 3-gate process.
6. They have clear shipping restrictions
State laws vary. A legit retailer publishes which states they DO and DON'T ship to (we don't ship hemp to ID, IA, KS, NE — see full list). Sketchy retailers ship anywhere and let you deal with the legal mess.
7. The product descriptions don't make medical claims
Federally, hemp brands can't claim products treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Legit brands stay vague ("premium hemp," "lab-tested," "21+ only"). Sketchy brands promise pain relief, sleep, anxiety reduction, etc. — that's an FDA violation and a trust-killer.
8. They use discreet shipping
Premium brands ship in plain unmarked boxes — no external branding, return address shows a fulfillment partner. Your business is your business.
9. Real reviews from real customers
Look for verified reviews tied to actual purchases. Watch for: dozens of 5-star reviews from the same week (suspicious), reviews that all sound the same (paid), or no review system at all (hiding something).
10. Responsive customer support
Email a question before you buy. Response time + quality tells you everything. We respond within 24 hours at hello@ziggysmiami.com.
The Ziggy's standard
We hit all 10 by design. Browse:
- Hemp products — every COA linked
- Lab Results page — our testing standard
- Compliance page — how we operate
- Authorized Retailer — every device authentic
Red flags that mean walk away
- No COA, or "available upon request" but never delivered
- Promises specific health outcomes
- No physical address listed
- Ships anywhere with no state restrictions
- No age verification
- Prices way below market (counterfeit risk)
- Limited or no contact info
Bottom line
If you're paying $50+ for hemp, demand the COA, the address, the testing, and the support. We built Ziggy's because nobody in Miami was hitting all 10. Start browsing or ask us anything.
21+ only. Hemp products contain less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC, 2018 Farm Bill compliant. Not evaluated by the FDA.
