Every hemp order from Ziggy's ships with adult signature required. That means someone 21+ has to physically sign for the package at delivery. Here's why that exists and what it looks like in practice.
What "adult signature required" means
The carrier (USPS, UPS, FedEx) won't leave the package on your porch — someone over 21 has to be present, show ID matching the name on the label, and sign electronically or on paper. If no one's home, the carrier leaves a notice and re-attempts up to three times before holding it at the local depot.
Why we require it
Three reasons:
- Federal regulation. Hemp products containing cannabinoids are restricted to adults 21+ by federal and most state law.
- Carrier requirements. USPS, UPS, and FedEx require adult signature for any tobacco-related or age-restricted shipment.
- Liability protection. Adult signature creates a paper trail — protects us, you, and the carrier if anything goes wrong.
How to make it easy
Ship to your work address
If you work standard hours, ship to your office. Reception or the front desk usually accepts deliveries (just confirm they accept signature-required packages).
Use the carrier app
USPS Informed Delivery, UPS My Choice, and FedEx Delivery Manager let you reschedule, redirect, or pick up at a depot. Free to sign up.
Hold at depot
If you know you'll miss delivery, request "hold at location" through the carrier app. Pick up at your convenience with ID.
Pick a delivery window
Most carriers let you select a delivery window or request a specific re-attempt date.
What ID counts as proof
Government-issued photo ID with date of birth — driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID. The carrier checks that the recipient is 21+ AND that the name matches the shipping label.
If your shipping name doesn't match your ID (e.g., shipping to a partner, friend, or business), make sure that person is 21+ and willing to show ID.
What happens if delivery fails 3 times
Package returns to us. We process a refund minus return shipping. Re-shipping is at additional cost. To avoid this:
- Use a carrier app to track and reschedule
- Have a 21+ housemate accept the package
- Hold at depot if you'll be away
Why we ship discreetly
Plain, unmarked boxes. No external Ziggy's branding. Return address shows our Miami fulfillment partner, not "Ziggy's Miami" or anything hemp-related. Your business is your business — the only person who knows what's in the package is you.
