Proportion as a design decision

Most glass is built tall because height is where cooling comes from. A deliberately squat piece gives that up in exchange for something else: a low center of gravity, real stability on a crowded surface, and a presence that reads as solid rather than delicate.

It is also harder to build than it looks. A wide body needs even wall thickness across a large curve, and there is no vertical column to hide a thin spot in.
